  1. Ants are social insects that live together in colonies. Their nest communities can be located in underground , in ground-level mounds, or in trees. Ant size ranges from 2 to 25 mm.
  2. There are more than 10000 species of ants known around the world.
  3. Ant communities are headed by queen ant whose only function is to lay thousands of eggs for the survival of their community.
  4. Male ants live only for mating with the queen after their mating they may die.
  5. Ants community by using chemicals that help them to move in a certain path to a food source and these chemicals also help alerting other ants of danger.
  6. A ant can sting people and bullet ant stings are said to be very painful. So be aware of ants living nearby your house like bullet ant and fire ants.
  7. Ants are very powerful and strongest insects when compared with other insects of it’s size. A single ants can carry around 50 times of it’s own weight. Ants work in group and they can even move bigger objects in group.
  8. Ants do not have ears and some ants do not have eyes. Ants listen by using their feet to fee the ground vibrations and some ants like driver ants communicates using their antennae.
  9. Ants have tiny holes all over their body called spiracles which they use it for breathing, they take oxygen and give back carbon dioxide through the same hole. Ants do not have lungs like we do.
  10. Ants can have one colony or a group of colony known as supercolonies which can have multiple nets and queens.
